This year has been amazing to say the least, but I know next year is going to be even better! At least that is what I am chanting leading into 2016. Over the last year I have learned a lot about my blog, and where I see my blog in the future! I definitely feel that 2014-2015 was a trail year for my blog with a lot of ups and downs. I guess you could say, I wasn’t really investing 100% in my blog, and by that I mean writing consistently with my readers in mind. It wasn’t until last month that I created a schedule for myself, 3 posts per week, which I am proud to say that I achieved my goal for the month of November. Leading into 2016 a lot will be happening for Simply Carmen Renee, I am launching my blog tips podcast channel, restarting my youtube channel, and creating a daily posting schedule! I know, I am upping the anty for next year, so hold me accountable. But today I want to talk to you all (primarily my blogger babes) about what 3 blog goals for 2016 you definitely need to consider adding to your list!
- Set a targeted monthly salary for yourself. Yes a salary, I know it seems far fetch, but realistically, if this is your part-time/full-time job, you should be bringing home some form of income. Now there are key variables to consider; your audience, photo quality, and pitch to brands. It’s important to begin networking, pitching, connecting with companies and brands that are going to pay you for your services.
- Press! Getting published in print/publications is definitely very important to getting the word out about you, your brand and your blog. I didn’t focus on this too much for myself this past year; I think I achieved only one press release for myself (see here) but still something I want to tackle head on for next year.
- Quality photos. I cannot stress this enough, people come and stay for the photos on your blog. I promise you, stellar photos will take your blog to the next level. Learn from the experts, see the quality of photos your favorite bloggers are taking (sharpness, bokeh, scenery) consider everything. Hire a photographer, if you can’t afford one, learn photography and become an expert at this craft. If you want to be taken seriously, its time to really invest in yourself and the quality of work you produce. Trust me, you will be happy you did!
I hope these tips were helpful in planning out your 2016 goals. These are definitely things I will be doing for the next year. What are your goals for next year? If you have any questions about these goals, feel free to leave them in the comments below! Thanks for reading!
